Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is personal injury law?
A. Personal injury law was established to protect the rights and best interest of individuals who were injured or wrongfully killed as the result of another person’s negligence or reckless behavior. In personal injury lawsuits, the victim, also called the plaintiff, files a claim in order to obtain financial compensation for his or her pain, suffering, medical costs, emotional distress, and financial hardship.

Q. How much is my case worth?
A. There is no set answer to this question since every case is different. The value of your case will depend on the specific circumstances and conditions surrounding the accident. Generally, the more severe the injury is, the more a case is worth. Other factors, such as how the injury impacts the victim’s lifestyle and earning capacity, may also increase the amount the victim can recover. But it is important to remember that compensation is never guaranteed.
As soon as our attorneys evaluate your case, we will be able to give you a better idea of how much your case is worth. However, we can never guarantee a specific amount of recovery. Any attorney that claims he or she can guarantee a set amount of recovery should not be trusted.

Q. What is a statue of limitations?
A. A statue of limitations is the set time period a victim has to file a personal injury lawsuit. In California, with few exceptions, a victim has two years to file a personal injury claim before the statue of limitations expires. If the victim fails to file a claim within this set amount of time, he/she waives his/her right to take legal action or seek financial compensation.

Q. If the accident was party my fault, do I still have a chance at recovering any damages?
A. Yes, you can. Even if you are partially at fault, you may still be eligible to receive damages if the other party involved was also at fault. In these situations, the amount of compensation you can receive will be comparable to the degree you were at fault.
So, if you were at fault 20%, than you would receive 80% in damages. However, compensation is never guaranteed, even if the other party was 100% at fault. The best thing you can do to obtain the largest amount in damages, is to hire a skilled personal injury attorney to represent you in court.
